Mechanical Engineer - HVAC & MEP



We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the SVP, to monitor, review and execute all facets of Commissioning and Energy related projects. The successful candidate will have a mechanical engineering background with strong knowledge of how major building HVAC systems are designed and operate. In addition, the candidate will provide technical and management functions throughout the design, pre-construction, construction and post construction phases of projects by liaising with team members, outside consultants and contractors while assisting the SVP in leading cross functional teams on various projects.

  • Liaise with team members, outside consultants and contractors in a highly professional manor
  • Assist the SVP in leading cross functional teams on various projects
  • Protect Company's contractual position and ensure all work meets contracted requirements
  • Manage all of the project documentation requirements
  • Support and be accountable for the preparation, review, and issuance of all projects to ensure that they are prepared to meet the required timelines
  • Responsibe for the overall management of field activity
  • Schedule and coordinate JLL team members accordingly, ensuring requirements are fulfilled by the contractor and relevant sub trades by maximizing efficiency/productivity of our staff
  • Proactively manage project related issues on accounts or assignments
  • Develop the scope and schedule for all assigned projects
  • Conduct and document all weekly project meetings
  • Maintain accurate and consistent files of all documentation
  • Interact and negotiate with contractors and subcontractors
  • Prepare/update project status reports, process invoices, update tracking reports, and maintain files for due diligence and financials
  • Demonstrate a proactive focus on meeting client and project requirements in a timely and cost effective manner
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use and application of all PDS technology as required for assigned projects
  • Assist the Local PDS team in meeting Adjusted Gross Margin (AGM) targets on a Regional and National level as determined on a yearly basis by the Management Executive Committee


  • Post-secondary education in Engineering is required
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or combination of relevant work experience and education
  • xperience with design for large projects such as Hospitals, Commercial Office Buildings, and Data Centers is strongly preferred
  • LEED and or PMP accreditation would be an asset.
  • Must be proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Project or Primavera
  • Must have the ability to complete mid-sized, multi-faceted projects from start to finish under general direction of the SVP
  • Must be able to conduct regular site visits as required, including climbing ladders, exposed to noise, dust and/or external elements. (Hard Hat and Safety boots required).
  • Must have strong written and verbal communications skills; effective at delivering difficult messages with tact and diplomacy
  • Must have the ability to prepare and track budgets
  • Must be able to adapt and prioritize, meeting deadlines, in a fast-paced environment
  • May require on-call activity after regular office hours
  • Must demonstrate leadership, responsiveness, and accountability
  • Must be detail oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Must be proactive and take initiative
  • A proactive and perceptive outlook to achieve results and a team player attitude is required
  • Effective prioritization skills with proven success in managing multiple priorities with varying deadlines
  • A strong capability for identifying, assessing and managing both risks and opportunities
  • Demonstrated capability in being open minded and flexible in both thoughts and approach
  • An ability to collaborate, consult and build strong relationships
  • Demonstrated capacity to work under pressure and to embrace change
  • Must be able to travel frequently both Nationally and Internationall
